Instream Restoration  
Instream habitat structures, also known as aquatic habitat structures and stream improvement structures, frequently are used in fish habitat restoration projects. Historically, these structures were popular with project managers because it was often easier to get permission to conduct modifications within the stream than to alter the surrounding riparian area.
