Watershed Approach to Fish Habitat Restoration browse | search

The watershed approach to habitat restoration is a holistic process intended to restore an ecosystem to a former natural condition. Projects may address site-specific problems, such as bank erosion or habitat degradation, but the long-term goal is to restore a functioning ecosystem that sustains healthy riparian habitat over time. The watershed approach has been implemented in the following restoration projects:

Blackfoot River Watershed, Montana
Feather River Watershed, California
Omak Creek Restoration, Washington
Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Nevada
