Fish habitat restoration has become a multi-million dollar industry with a diversity of techniques being developed and practiced. However, project results have not been shared widely and their efficacy is not well understood. To address this problem, the Wild Fish Habitat Initiative has established a database of case histories on habitat restoration projects primarily within the Intermountain West (Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and California), as well as South Dakota and Alaska. Our intention is to provide useful information that will enable landowners and resource managers to make informed decisions regarding various fish habitat restoration techniques.
Projects within the case histories database have been grouped
into the following project types:

How we choose projects to highlight on our web page...
The Wild Fish Habitat Initiative gives special consideration to habitat restoration projects targeted for native fish populations. We do consider projects for exotic fish if such techniques are useful in benefiting native fish. We limit our selection process to projects with well-documented design, implementation, and evaluation. For details on our selection criteria, click here. If you have a restoration project that you are proud of and would like to see posted on our site, please contact us. |
